The Year of the Wood Sheep

The Chinese’ New Year’s Day officially occurred on Feb. 19, but similar to the Christmas holidays here, celebrations and festivities occur over a few weeks.

There are 12 different animals in the Chinese Zodiac that correspond to a twelve year cycle. In addition there are 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) which are associated with their own ‘life force’ or ‘chi’. These two energies blend to determine the year’s fortune.
2015 is the year of the sheep and it corresponds with Wood.

Wood is associated with living things, and is the element associated with all living things, the ‘spring’ or life renewal process.

So this year is known as the Year of the Wood Sheep or Year of the Green Sheep as wood relates to trees which are green. :)[/ut_three_fourths_last]

The two combined bring us a time for renewal and growth while being kind, tender, and sympathetic to those around us. This year will be the year for contemplating and appreciating what you’ve already accomplished, to think about how you can bring goodness to others, to take a deep breath and calmly make a plan to be prepared for what’s to come.

This year is the year to focus on yourself by finding your peace, harmony and calm so you can graciously help those around you. Having a steady path will keep you moving forward.
You can make the most of the year by tuning into the energy that this year brings. Here are some ways to do that

1. Practice self-awareness and focus on completing one thing at a time, lack of attention can cause you to stray off your path. Be mindful, don’t compare yourself to others, instead be the best version of you.

2. Have fun along the way. The attitude you wear day to day is what will determine your success in the end. Keep a positive outlook every day and always find something to make you smile, or better yet, laugh.

3. Once you’ve taken care of yourself you are free to share your energy with others. You want to spend your energy with like-minded people and affiliate yourself with groups that lift you up and encourage you to be the best person you can be. You will want to minimize the time spent with people who emotionally drain you.

4. Having compassion and kindness will go a long way, as the sympathetic sheep displays, but it will take your imagination to get things accomplished in all aspects of your life.

This will be a year that you can accomplish your goals if you plan ahead and stay focused.
